Recycle Together in Kayamandi

Coceka is a community recycling initiative in Kayamandi.  We work together to keep our streets clean, create jobs and turn plastic waste into something useful.

Each bottle, container and piece of plastic can make a difference. When we recycle together, we protect our environment and support local families.

Why Recycling matters here in Kayamandi

Plastic waste is a big problem. It blocks drains, causes flooding, harms animals and makes neighbourhoods unhealthy.

But plastic can also be valuable. By recycling, we can:

    • Keep Kayamandi clean and safe
    • Create local jobs and skills
    • Support waste collectors with fair pay
    • Help protect our rivers and the ocean
    • Turn waste into income for families in our community

How it works – from Waste to Value

    • Community members and waste collectors bring plastic to the Coceka recycling pod
    • The plastic is sorted, cleaned, and weighed
    • Waste collectors are paid for what they bring
    • The plastic is shredded into small flakes and granules
    • These flakes and granules are sold to companies that make new products

Your waste becomes someone’s job and someone’s income. Help Coceka recycle together, create jobs, and clean our communities. Find out more about Coceka
